Jenna Miller
Co founderJenna Miller graduated from Somerset College in 2023 with an ATAR of 99.25, duxing Year 12 English and German. She's currently studying Medicine through the CQUniversity / University of Queensland Rural Medical Program. With several years of tutoring experience, Jenna knows firsthand how much the right tutor can change everything, not just results, but confidence.
Jenna attributes her own academic success not to natural talent, but to the strategies she built and the genuine understanding she developed along the way. Through The Maths Method, she hopes to pass that on, giving every student clarity, confidence, and the ability to progress.
Lulu Harris
Co founderLulu Harris graduated from Geelong Grammar School in 2024 and is currently studying a Bachelor of Laws / Bachelor of Commerce at Bond University.
She completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma with a score of 39/45. The IB taught her to think systematically and work with precision, which is at the heart of The Maths Method. Lulu focuses on connecting with each student and building their confidence through a structured approach to understanding. She's passionate about this work because she's lived it: in Year 7, she struggled with maths and believed she wasn't capable. Everything changed when she figured out the system. Now she wants to help other students find that same breakthrough.
Our Story
The Maths Method was built on a simple observation. Most students who struggle with maths are not lacking ability, they are lacking a system. We saw this consistently in our work with students. Many arrived feeling frustrated and behind, not because the content itself was too difficult, but because key foundations from earlier years had never been fully understood.
Maths is cumulative. A gap in Year 7 does not remain in Year 7. It builds over time, becoming increasingly difficult to manage by Year 10, when concepts rely heavily on prior knowledge. By the time most families seek support, the issue is often more significant than it first appears.
Traditional tutoring tends to focus on the immediate task, completing homework or working through the next topic. While this can lead to short-term improvement, it rarely addresses the underlying problem. Without a clear understanding of the concepts beneath the surface, the same gaps continue to form. Students may learn how to complete a specific type of question, but not how to approach unfamiliar problems with confidence.
That is why we built The Maths Method.
A structured, foundation-first approach designed to rebuild understanding from the ground up. We focus on the underlying concepts, the reasoning behind each step, and the connections between topics, so students develop clarity, confidence, and the ability to think independently.
The result is not just improved performance in the short term, but a lasting understanding of maths.
Why choose us
Year 7 -10 only
TMM specialises exclusively in foundational mathematics for Years 7 to 10. This is not a broad tutoring agency covering every subject and year level. Foundational maths is our entire focus, because we know how much these years matter for what comes next.
Selective Tutors
We are selective about who teaches for TMM because the relationship between a student and their tutor matters. Our tutors are high-achieving graduates who are just as chosen for their ability to connect with students as they are for their academic results.
1:1 Sessions
All TMM sessions are one-to-one and face to face. We believe real progress in maths happens in the room - when a student can ask questions freely, get immediate feedback, and work through problems with someone right beside them. No groups, no distractions, just focused learning.
Feedback loop
After every session, we send a personalised worksheet directly to the parent, matched to exactly what was covered that day. We do this because one hour a week is not enough on its own. The worksheet keeps the learning going between sessions and gives students the chance to practise what they have just understood, not just what they have memorised.
